Lizzy Ross Band - Record Release Super Soiree
Lizzy Ross Band - Record Release Super Soiree
Chapel Hill's Lizzy Ross Band fuses jazz and folk music with dirty blues, rock and soul. Ross’ commanding, versatile, and expressive voice has been compared to such artists as Regina Spektor, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell and Grace Potter. The band’s tight arrangements range from subtly complimentary to virtuosically explosive. Creating high energy, soulful music that is intelligent, danceable, and unique. The Lizzy Ross Band includes Lizzy Ross on vocals and rhythm guitar, Jock Pyle on electric guitar, Brett Hart on bass, and Drew Daniel on percussion.

Lizzy Ross recently won the Best Rock Female of 2011 at the nationally recognized Carolina Music Awards, as well as an Emerging Artist Grant from the Durham Arts Council. She was named one of two "Best New Songwriters" by Former Universal Music Publishing Creative Director Scott Gunter.

In June 2010 Lizzy Ross released her debut solo album, Traces. Nominated for HGMN's (Home Grown Music Network) 2010 album of the year, Traces has been met with critical acclaim for the passion and “beautiful songwriting” it contains. The Lizzy Ross Band plans to release their highly anticipated debut CD 'Read Me Out Loud' this fall followed by an extensive tour along the East Coast.
BIG Something
BIG Something
The BIG Something is a high-energy, groove-based modern rock band. Their new album, “Stories from the Middle of Nowhere,” produced by Grammy nominee John Custer, is an adventurous outer space thrill ride with a truly BIG sound. The songs are catchy and charming, layered and soulful with great hooks and colorful storytelling.
Mipso Trio
Mipso Trio
Mipso Trio come to rock the house. They come to croon. They come to nurture your soul.

And they come with an assortment of differently-sized acoustic instruments.

This band of three UNC students assembled in the fall of 2010 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Wood Robinson kayaks, climbs, and dabbles in the double bass. Jacob Sharp is a connoisseur of wine, laughs frequently, and fools around on the mandolin. Joseph Terrell grows habanero peppers, reminisces about simpler times, and plays a mean guitar.

Together they bring soul to folk, rock’n’roll to bluegrass, and something funky to Americana. Together they seek to blend and meld the rich acoustic traditions of the Appalachians. While the result is rarely traditional, it’s sometimes surprising, and occasionally it can be downright irreverent. Together they are just a few friends who make music.
